The office furniture manufacturer Palmberg succeeded in completing the previous record performance in 2016 with increased employee numbers, higher sales than ever before and full order books. In addition, for the second time in a row, Palmberg was number one in the overall ranking of the retailer survey 2016 carried out by the sector-independent information service Markt Intern. With a turnover of EUR 94.1 million, the office furniture manufacturer based in West Mecklenburg generated an increase in sales of more than 11 percent in the fiscal year 2016 compared to the previous year. This year started with a EUR 50.1 million turnover in the first six months, another record.
“2016 marked Palmberg’s most profitable year. Together with our successful presence at ORGATEC, the optimisation of our production processes as well as the further development of existing and the introduction of new products, we have formed a good basis for the future development of our company”, says Uwe Blaumann, Palmberg Managing Director.
Expansion of the management
With the expansion of the management from two to four members in January 2017, the company has forced this further development from the very start of the current fiscal year, initiating a change of generations. In addition to the two partners Uwe Blaumann und Torsten Utz, their daughters Nicole Eggert, née Blaumann, and Julianne Utz have been working as managing directors of the office furniture manufacturer since the beginning of the year. However, there will be no change in the corporate orientation. As an experienced expert for office and object equipment, the company continues to focus on the wishes and visions of its customers.

Increased sales in the first half year of 2017
For the fiscal year 2017, for instance, the office furniture manufacturer is planning to generate the turnover of 2016, to be ensured by currently 507 employees. In addition, Palmberg is one of the leading apprenticing companies in its own region with a modern and successful training concept. The figures of the first half year of the current fiscal year show that the office furniture manufacturer and its team are on the right track. In the first half of the year, the company was able to implement national and international projects and increase sales by 5.4 percent to a total of EUR 50.1 million in comparison with the first six months in 2016.
The opening of the own production plant 2 has already paid off. There, on a production area of 733 m², the space division system Terio Plus with its wide range of acoustically effective solutions for the visual and acoustic shielding of working areas is produced under its own direction. The result: greater independence from suppliers, a considerable increase in quality and sales in the field of acoustically effective solutions. In addition, Palmberg has expanded its product competence this year by the inclusion of the office kitchen Cucina.

Production plant 3 is planned for 2018
For the future, in the medium term, Palmberg is planning to build another production plant. The company has already reserved a suitable property for this purpose. However, the first half of 2017 has shown that there is a short-term need for action to meet the strong demand for the acoustic programme Terio Plus. In order to satisfy our customers’ requests, a new hall is being built not far from the present location, which is to be used for the expansion of acoustic component production. Construction is scheduled to begin in early 2018.
