One of the fastest growing German manufacturers of office furniture, FM Büromöbel, has been sold to the Vivonio Furniture GmbH. The company from Bösel, with 250 employees, will retain its production site, in which the Germans have invested millions of euros in recent years. Also, the workers do not have to fear their jobs.
FM Büromöbel was founded in 1964 by Franz Meyer and his wife Lisa. The company has grown steadily, but since the investments, growthrates have increased. With a sales growth of 60% over the last three years, FM has climbed to the top 10 manufacturers in Germany. In order to continue this growth, the owners have decided to sell their company to Vivonio.
Investment fund behind Vivonio
Vivonio Furniture is the parent holding of several companies in the furniture industry. Known is the acquisition of German Leuwico last year, and also MAJA is part of the group. Maja is IKEA’s largest supplier. Vivonio is owned by Equistone Partners.
Theo Budde, CEO of FM Büromöbel, says about the acquisition: “We have found the ideal partner with Vivonio. The acquisition offers great opportunities for further growth and synergy benefits. Above all we see great opportunities in cooperation with Leuwico“
Vivonio’s Director Elmar Duffner adds: “We acquired a company that is managed excellently, with highly trained and involved staff. Together, we want to realise further growth.”
New investments in the near future
In addition to the acquisition, FM Büromöbel also announced it will invest again in the production site. A new hall with an area of approximately 7500 square meters will appear next to existing facilities, which will greatly increase production capacity.
