Kinnarps is closing its german manufacturing facility in Worms, which could affect about 170 jobs. Reason is a change in the product offering of the Swedish company (the largest office furniture manufacturer in Europe), which results in the termination of the Ordemo storage series, manufactured solely in the german plant. The press release of Kinnarps is stated below:
“The Kinnarps global strategy is focused on offering attractive and inspiring total solutions for workplaces. Kinnarps offers sustainable, ergonomic, well-designed products and services, delivered as complete interior design solutions for offices, schools and healthcare facilities. With its Scandinavian interior concept Next Office, Kinnarps is the right choice for many of the companies and organizations in Germany who are increasingly asking for unified interior design solutions for their premises. The trend is moving towards having more flexible working environments. Classical offices with large storage solutions are less in demand. Kinnarps is the leading partner when it comes to furnishing modern working environments in Europe, and is aiming for a stronger position on the German market.
No longer demand for the Ordemo storage series
There is no longer demand for the Ordemo storage series as a result of the new interior design concept. Ordemo, which is sold on the German market and manufactured at Kinnarps’ manufacturing facilities in Worms in Germany; will be discontinued in the Kinnarps range. For this reason, Kinnarps has the intention to shut down its manufacturing facilities in Worms.
Kinnarps’ operation in Germany, Kinnarps GmbH, is intended to be run as a sales company, offering interior design solutions with products and services for the working environments of the future.
