Fumac AS is an office furniture manufacturer with its head office in Danish Vinderup. The company managed to consolidate its profit at € 549,000 last year after it was still loss-making in 2015, in particular. CEO Per Susgaard is satisfied with the figures and expects a moderate further growth for next year.
Fumac was founded in Handbjerg in 1956 and has developed into a manufacturer of high quality office furniture. The company is now located in a production site of 18000 square meters in Vinderup. Since the beginning of this century the Danes have been working together with the well-known design company Busk + Hertzog which resulted in a Red Dot Award for their Galla chair in 2009.
The focus is not just on office furniture. In 2014, Fumac also acquired Danish Atom, which focuses on the design and production of home furniture. Both companies are proud to continue producing in Denmark: “We try to take the lead in technological development and see our investments in employees and advanced technology as one of the main reasons why we can produce in Denmark. This will ensure a more flexible production and our time-to-market is also faster than if we were to accommodate our production in a low-wage country ” says Susgaard.
Export is becoming increasingly important
Susgaard expects moderate growth in the following year: “We do not expect a double-digit growth, but I believe in continued growth in the export markets we have selected (especially in Norway Fumac is well represented, ed.). We are also taking our first steps Asian market. It is a little too early to say if it will be successful, but there is global interest, and therefore also in Asia,in Scandinavian design “
