Due to the increasing spread of the novel Corona virus SARS-CoV-2 the education trade fair didacta (scheduled from 24 – 28 March) is not take place in March.
Over the last weeks, Messe Stuttgart has been in close and constructive contact with the Baden-Württemberg health authorities as well as the promotional partners of the trade fair namely the Didacta Verband e.V. and the Verband Bildungsmedien e. V. Recommendations and orders of the authorities have continuously been adjusted to the current situation. The recent significant increase in the number of infections in Germany demanded a new assessment of the situation by the authorities.
Didacta – the education trade fair – was to take place for the 10th time in Stuttgart from 24 – 28 March. It addresses teachers, educators, trainers and educational staff as well as personnel developers. In addition to the product range offered by over 950 exhibitors, the event programme comprises more than 1,500 training sessions, workshops, lectures and conferences. High ranking representatives from politics, economics, science and society come to didacta to find ways for the education of the future and to exchange ideas and opinions. Messe Stuttgart expected about 85,000 visitors this year.
“We are genuinely sorry for this situation but the health of exhibitors, visitors, employees and the public have the highest priority for us and our partners. For the exhibitors, the situation is very difficult. We are working hard to find an alternative date in the near future. We are convinced, though, that all parties concerned will understand this decision for the moment” says Stefan Lohnert, President of Messe Stuttgart.
