Steelcase Werndl AG, a subsidiary of the American office furniture manufacturer Steelcase, will rename to Steelcase AG in August this year and relocate its headquarters from Rosenheim to Munich. In Munich, the second Learning + Innovation Center of Steelcase is to be officially opened in late summer. In this Center the areas of research, design, product development, marketing and other supporting functions for the regions DACH and EMEA will be bundled.
A total of around 250 employees from these areas will move from Munich, Rosenheim and Schiltigheim / France. The first Learning + Innovation Center of Steelcase is located at the US headquarters in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The production plant in Rosenheim with around 300 employees remains the center for the production of office furniture for the EMEA region. Schiltigheim remains the location of the business center and other company functions. “Relocating our headquarters, and the renaming of Steelcase Werndl to Steelcase AG are the next steps we take on the journey we started with the acquisition of Werndl Büromöbel AG back in 1999” says Stephan Derr, Steelcase Vice President Sales. “The new name makes our brand stronger and more recognizable in the DACH-countries (Germany, Austria and Switzerland) and in the whole EMEA-region”
