Kewaunee Scientific Corporation announced today the resignation of William A. Shumaker as Chairman of the Board of Directors and as a Director of the Company, effective January 31, 2019. Mr. Shumaker cited personal reasons as the basis for his decision.
Mr. Shumaker joined Kewaunee in 1993 as Vice President for Sales and Marketing. He became President of the Company in 1999 and a Director and Chief Executive Officer in 2000. Since his retirement as CEO in 2013, Mr. Shumaker has served as Chairman of the Board.
“Bill’s steady and thoughtful leadership and service to our Company for 25 years has been both eventful and distinguished,” said David S. Rhind, Chairman of the Nominating and Corporate Governance Committee. “Bill led Kewaunee through a new era of innovation, growth, and profitability, expanding operations domestically and opening new frontiers with the creation and development of our strong international business. Always focused on the strength of the business, Bill never lost sight of and always cared deeply for the people who make the Company what it is. On behalf of a grateful board and all our Kewaunee associates, we thank Bill for his wisdom, thoughtfulness, dedication, and friendship over many years.“
