Arper announces the opening of a new showroom in Downtown Los Angeles. The showroom, which is the Italian design brand’s third location in the U.S. and 12th globally, is the company’s latest step towards strategic growth throughout the American market.
The Los Angeles showroom was designed by New York-based architect Solveig Fernlund under the creative direction of Jeannette Altherr from Barcelona. The showroom, which totals approximately 3,000 square feet, houses Arper’s range of furnishings within a light-filled space, enlarged with high ceilings and oversized windows, which look out to an outdoor courtyard.
Variation of spaces
“The aim was to create a variation of spaces – both large and small, intimate and grand – that would maximize the experience and presentation of the furniture,” said Solveig Fernlund, architect. “All come together with natural light and flow, allowing visitors to explore alone or with assistance.”
The showroom is divided into two main areas – a lounge, which features compositions of products such as Zinta, Loop, Colina and Arcos; and an office and meeting area, featuring more task- oriented collections including Cross, Kinesit, Meety and Catifa Sensit.
While designing the showroom, the team intently focused on light, space and color, all of which represent shared values between the brand and location of the new showroom.
California market one of Arpers fastest growing regions
“L.A. is more closely aligned with Mediterranean culture than Arper’s other locations in New York or Chicago,” said Jeannette Altherr, creative director. “Both in terms of climate and vegetation, but also through the influence of Modernism, with which clean, rational lines and a mix of vibrant colors speaks to the emotions. We wanted this to come across in the showroom, which projects a tactile and happy atmosphere with a sense of optimism.”
Arper’s decision to establish a location in Los Angeles allows the company to operate bicoastally and more readily meet the needs of the California market – Arper’s second largest in North America for sales, and one of its fastest growing regions globally. The new showroom is part of the brand’s overall U.S. expansion effort, which also includes a new manufacturing facility in High Point, N.C. – the company’s first outside of Italy, which commenced production earlier this year.
Arper Los Angeles is located at 550 South Hope Street, Suite 275, and is open by appointment Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm.
